Vera Amalia Rivera was exposed to the concept of death by the age of 5 years. It was her first introduction to a world she never knew existed, a reality obscured by magic that only people such as herself are able to penetrate. These people were known as children of the gods, half-bloods. Although for a while, she lived in bliss. Sure, the looming dread of one day being pulled into this horrible reality hung over her head every second of every day, it wasn't until she reached 10 years of age that her world was once again shattered.

What she wasn't prepared for however, was to become a champion for the gods. Or, in more specific terms, a martyr. A small piece in a ginormous puzzle, but otherwise the most crucial.

They told her she would die a hero. That she would be known as a legend throughout the ages.

Little did she know that death lurks around every corner. That her life would know nothing but the ideology that she must die in order to achieve what she wants.

Because in her situation, staying alive will never be enough to protect the ones she loves. As a hero, the world comes first.

The people she cherishes will one day seize to exist. Death is inevitable.

Memento Mori - "Remember you must die"

The people of Asgard are looking for a new home. They get a warm welcome on Earth, except for Loki. He is treated like a criminal of war, a terrorist. All they see in him is darkness. But there is a light, if she is up for the task. "Nooo I don't want it to end!!!! [...] This has been my motivation to get my uni coursework done so I can read. [...] Was great hun, well done to you." - @MistyB1989, from the United Kingdom. "This book was so good I can't even begin to describe how well written it was. Everything about was just so good. Thanks for blessing me with this book." - @allegedlyjasmin "Amazing book! Had me invested the entire book!" - @GLiTcH_GaMiNg, from Australia Fragment: At that moment, the door to the apartment swings open and a man barges in. He is holding something that looks like a big syringe in his hands. "Yoohoo... Reindeer games! You home? I've got something for you!" The man stops in his tracks when he spots us sitting on the couch. "I'm sorry, I didn't realise we had company. And beautiful company at that, I might say. What's your name, beautiful? Do you have clearance? Williams, does she have clearance?" [...] Tony Stark walks over to me and takes my hand, standing just a little closer than necessary. "Nice to meet you, mr Stark." I reply, taking my hand back gingerly. [...] From the corner of my eye I can see that Loki has turned his chair to face the room, watching the exchange between me and Tony Stark with a hint of a smile on his face. I get the sense that there's not much that gets past the Trickster. Mr. Stark has already moved on, walking towards Loki. He is holding up the syringe like it's a Super Soaker gun, waving it back and forth. "This will only hurt a little, Bambi!" Tony laughs. First published February 2018. Edited april 2018. This was officially the most uncomfortable day of Percy's life. ----- "Percy, I don't know what happened to you when you were young, but denying that it ever happened isn't the answer." It'd worked pretty well for him so far. "Who said anything about denying it?" he asked. The look Apollo gave him felt almost parental. He pointed in the direction of the throne room. "How many of them know about any of this?" he asked. The demigod shifted uncomfortably. "None." "Exactly." "Really?" Will asked. "Not even Annabeth?" Percy shrugged. "Look, those bruises don't come from nowhere," Apollo said. "Whatever happened to you had to have been serious." "It was. It was messed up," Will interrupted, laughing darkly. Percy shot him a glare. They were supposed to be playing this down, not making it worse. ------ "What," Percy scoffed, "and I'm just supposed to trust you?" ++You don't have a choice. A magic talking book with all your secrets written out like a YA novel appears and starts ordering you around, and you're not going to listen to it?++ To that, he didn't have an answer. ++Kid, I am your god++ Percy deadpanned. "You're a book," he corrected. Annabeth gave him a look. "Don't patronize them," she whispered. ------ I took the reading the books trope and gave it a little fine wine with its dinner. Time to grow up, kid. Streching of canon. Warning: Crass language used, discussion of child abuse physical & sexual, mentions of drug use, mentions of underage drug use. Specific warnings at the beginning of each chapter Cover art is not mine. Neither is the Percy Jackson series. It was time. They needed a new Queen, a new Matriarch. They needed someone who would not only protect and defend, but fight and rule. Someone who would be balanced and morally gray. One who would know what was needed and not be afraid to give it or just be exactly what was needed no matter what. They needed a warrior. Finding her though was hard. They looked all through history and through every realm in the vast multiverse. Then as if by magic she was found. They saw the spark of her soul as it was first created. A beautiful silver that shined so brightly. It just needed a bit more, so they intervened (interfered). They added to the soul making it more than it was. They gave it knowledge, magic and power. They merged parts of other glorious female warrior souls with the new one. They even took as much as they could of other goddesses and gods, their Ichor and divinity, merging it with her soul. When they were done it was like holding the heart of the universe in their hands. They gave her everything she would need to be their Queen and Matriarch. They just made a few mistakes. First, they didn't pay attention to which gods and goddesses they merged with her. They didn't understand they added more underworld, death, war, magic and dark Divine than any other. The other mistake was family and life she was born into. They better hope the entire divine and mortal existence is ready. Because with Blood and Magic When The Valkyrie Falls The Dark Queen Rises
