Hybrid: The Awakening di DuNdUnDUN2006

Nobody expects something supernatural to happen to them. Those kind of things only happened in comics. Fairy Tales. Unrealistic dreams that you'd fall asleep to, silently wishing for them to come true. At least, that was what these three teenagers thought. It turns out that there is so much more to their simple universe than they ever could have imagined. After each finding a strange alien artifact, the teens are suddenly thrusted into an intergalactic war. Alien species everywhere are trying to hunt down the most powerful weapons in the galaxy. And they are the ones in possession of it. When they run into a girl that claims to be from another planet, the three kids learn about the power given to them and the responsibilities that come along with it. Instantly, they are the most popular people in the galaxy. And for once, popularity couldn't feel more like a curse. Fighting grudges, fear, and distrust, the Chosen humans must travel to the one place on Earth where they might be safe. And with strange new powers, the teenagers struggle to live in the unfamiliar world they thought they knew so well.

In an alternate timeline, the human race found a way to create superpowers. By extracting energy from stars and inserting that energy into humans, 'powers' were created. Powers allowed humans to gain unnatural abilities such as flight, invisibility, super strength or in other words, superpowers. Of course, with the introduction of something so revolutionary, people rose up in the hundreds of thousands in an event known as the Great Rebellion. The insurgents banded together under a single banner and became collectively known as the Shadow, marking the beginning of the Cosmic Wars. Out of the darkness, the Gazers were born. Using what remained of the power technology, the Gazers singlehandedly perished the evil and ended the conflict. However, there was a price to pay. Powers put a toll on the human body and had serious mental and physical repercussions. The solution was to recruit children from the age of 13 to 18 and train them so their bodies would adapt to their powers, eventually becoming immune to all negative side effects. The end of the Cosmic Wars brought forth a new age of peace and prosperity that the world had never seen before. However, the long reign of the Gazers has already begun to crumble, cracks showing up within the very thread of society. Their rule will not last for much longer. The Shadow will rise once again. Long ago, there were cities where people had special abilities, far beyond what normal humans could do. For many generations, they protected their world from evil, standing strong and unbeatable. But one terrible mistake changed everything. Someone from within betrayed them, or maybe it was a spell gone wrong, or a promise broken. This mistake brought a powerful curse upon their people. The curse doomed the 20th generation of these guardians to die early and mysteriously, no matter how strong or special they were. Now, their children-the 21st generation-are left to deal with the heavy burden of their parents' past.

Nakamura Sato, now a teenager half-vampire (half-blood) living in Tokyo, knows his death is coming. He knows that he is a monster himself. However, he is also aware that other creatures of the night lie in wait. He's always envied his classmates at Chikara University, each born with unique powers. Sometimes, he wonders how he even got admitted, considering he has no powers of his own. At least not the kind the other students were born with. Not to mention, no one has a clue he's a vampire. He's always had a dream, a dream much like the others at his university. Become a hero and save their city from villains that lurk. Train to use the powers they were blessed with. Use them for good. However, he was always told that he didn't have time before his body would dissipate.
