A futuristic dystopian society devoted to the continuation of mankind. Two stubborn boys. One pre-determined destiny neither have any control over...

Shay Arden has waited his entire life for the Crux Year-the year when sixteen-year-old boys become men and are introduced to their future husbands. After the 2X virus eliminated every last female on the planet twenty years ago, it was up to the male species to ensure the continuity of human life. Science, technology, and the will to multiply, despite the odds, has made this possible.

And Shay can't wait.
Love. Marriage. A family.
He wants it all.
Nothing will stop him from getting it.

But when Shay learns his match is the most maddening, rude, and obnoxious boy he knows, his dreams quickly become a nightmare. There has to be a glitch. Some sort of mistake. He can't marry Royal Ever. Never.

Royal is his enemy.
A rule-breaker with an attitude problem.
Incredibly hot, but also the absolute worst.

They got it wrong and Shay will do whatever it takes to prove it. He won't accept his fate without a fight.

His digging, though, brings the fight to his doorstep. It's ugly and terrifying. Some secrets, if uncovered, could ruin those in power and they'll do anything to keep them hidden. Even if that means eliminating anyone who finds out...like Shay. If he tells those he loves and cares about, they could be in danger too.

No one can help Shay except the royal pain in his rear...
His future husband.

Growing up in chaos isn't simple for all. Not many could cope. They would struggle and kick, but ultimately drown. However, for Dakota, that was his normality. Torturing. Maiming. Killing. That was his life, the life of a hunter. The Arizona line was elusive, written fame in the lore of hunters, and infamy for their prey. They were the best. No one could ever compare to their skills, their abilities, their ruthlessness. But Dakota was something else. His siblings might have learnt to enjoy the hunt, well most of them anyway, but Dakota didn't. There was always something missing for him, something he was waiting on. Silent and everlasting hope. A promise had been made to him, the day his twin brother was stolen, taken by the enemy, plucked right from the very home the Arizonas had grown up in. A promise of something better, something that he might actually want in his life. Now, almost sixteen years later, something was coming. A change was begging to be found. Maybe it would be for the best. Maybe Dakota would finally find that certain something that had been missing his whole life, something to fill the dark and fractured abyss that ached and wailed within. But nothing was ever that simple. Because, of course, the promise that had been made to Dakota would never be anything plausible for him, anything tangible to have and to hold. He had been promised a new life, by the greatest enemy of them all. It wouldn't be easy. Not with his family still clinging to his heels, the teachings of blood and violence burnt into his mind. No, leaving them behind wouldn't ever be easy. Then again, staying with them would only bring his inevitable death. Why not take the chance to die happy? After all, out of the ashes, a phoenix will rise...

(Book One) Jake Holmes hadn't put much thought into what home meant until Connor Morgan asked him to. He had settled with an idealistic fantasy. A life in the closet, complete with the girl he could bring home to momma, a house next to his best friend, and 2.5 kids. It didn't require thought, it didn't require confrontation, and it sure as hell didn't require him to reject everything he had ever learned about what life was and what made it worth living. But Connor did. Connor wasn't meant to happen. He ended up in Jake's life by chance, but Jake kept him there by choice. Connor was a pipedream stuffed away inside the ridges of Jake's mind that dared him to question everything for a life of authenticity. A life with Connor was something close enough to touch if he only knew how to reach for it. Jake's feelings for Connor become unmistakable, but the grip his past has on his ability to embrace the possibility of a life where he lets those feelings win threatens to leave him with a desperate choice he isn't equipped to make. As Jake struggles to find home within his identity, he is forced to combat the part of his heart that is stuck in the past with the part of his heart that yearns for a future. What is home if not where the heart is? Completed. Book 1 of 3. Sequel releases coming soon.
