Wei Wuxian challenges Lan Zhan intellectually and he finds himself desperately craving his messages and phone calls. But Wei Wuxian knows him as a thirty three year old closetted gay man who couldn't get into a relationship because of family constraints. He respects him as a peer and often shares his life struggles with him. Lan Zhan adores being treated as an adult for the first time in his life.
