                      PROLOGUE

We began at the east, by the power of air
He whispered some words, he saved my soul
Round and round, he bound me one night
He offered new life, another breath of light.

We met at the south, by the power of fire
He gave. me warmth, he marked my past
Casted out all darkness, my mind and body at rest
All harm that's near, he surrounds with no fear.

We turned to the west, by the power of water
His power flow strong, purified my pain and sorrow
With tides and waves, he followed my path
He held to his pledge, and vowed with dear and joy.

We ended at the north, by the power of earth
A tie was made, with perfect love and perfect trust
Within all elements, he answered fast and true
By the wheel of time, he became my heart's desire.

The last time Kaia saw her mother, she was nothing more than a pale shadow of the vibrant woman who had once been the heart of their kingdom. Her mother's breath came in shallow, labored gasps, the sickness claiming her slowly, piece by piece. But it was the words her mother spoke before her final breath that Kaia would carry with her forever. "The world is not as it seems, my love. Trust in yourself. Trust in the wind." Kaia didn't understand them then, but she would-soon enough. Her kingdom, once a land of magic and power, was falling apart. In the days before, the whispers had started. The sound of the earth, the wind, and the water; forces long ignored were now seen as a threat. Whisperers, beings like Kaia, who could bend the elements to their will, were hunted, sold, and killed like animals. But the true collapse of everything came after her mother's death. Her father, once a proud ruler, crumbled under the weight of his own guilt. And Kaia, filled with grief and rage, ran. She couldn't bear to stay any longer, not in the ashes of a kingdom that no longer cared for its people-or its whisperers. It was in her flight that she was taken. Abducted by the Rahibils, the hunters of the unspoken kind, who dealt in stolen souls. And in that dark, suffocating world of cages and chains, she met Reez-a stranger with eyes as sharp as the blade he wielded, and a heart hardened by the same cruel fate. They would be each other's strength in the days to come, as they plotted escape, and as Kaia learned the true meaning of freedom. But freedom, she would soon learn, came at a price higher than she could have ever imagined. The world was not as it seemed. She would find out soon enough just how deep the darkness went, and how far she was willing to go to uncover the truth. But only if she doesn't get herself killed first.

She felt his surprise. She felt his light extinguish as he died. Then there was nothing. Nothing. Her head was swimming like it was underwater. She couldn't move. She couldn't move. Her vision blurred, a man was speaking but she couldn't hear his words. She felt the sword in her chest, but it wasn't there. He killed him. He killed him. Breathe. Did she stop? Breathe. The man, she could hear him speaking. What was he saying? Breathe. She inhaled a deep breath. And another. Then another. Things started to clear. "Breathe. That's right," the warrior coaxed. She started to take another settling breath, and his face came more into focus. The first thing she noticed was his piercing green eyes. She had never seen eyes quite like that before. She stared into them, mesmerized. He mimicked a breath and she took it with him. She was coming back. "I will not hurt you," the man kneeling before her promised. Anna knew better than to believe him. What was it he had said? Oh. "You...you said...you said 'no witnesses'." She was shaking violently. She took another deep breath. "Ah, " he uttered in acknowledgment. "You are not a witness, you are the treasure

-- PROLOGUE "Let me get this straight. We have nothing in between us, except for the deal we made that day" he spoke in a monotonous tone. "I am the one carrying your name behind me; we are married. how can you say we have nothing in between us? Huh" She yelled at him, tears blurred her vision, and she spoke her heart to him. "For god's sake, this marriage was to save you! Can't you get that? I did not do it willingly, I do not love you!!" He yelled back at her, shattering her heart into pieces. "Why can't you just love me?" She spoke, as she cried the tears of hurt, and pain. Her heart thumped loudly due to the shivering sensation She felt all over her body. "I never made a commitment to you, or gave you any false hope, neither did i say that i love you. Did i?" He asked her, in a very cold tone. She looked at him through her teary eyes. It's getting difficult for her to even breathe. "It was your eyes, the damn eyes. Who gave me the false hope. They say, "Eyes speak the truth," but what about mine? Couldn't you feel the sincerity within them, expressing my deep affection for you? Why didn't you see the love shining in them? Was it too complex to understand? Couldn't you notice the warmth as they gazed at you? They search for you in every corner, If only you realized how they silently echoed the emotions I couldn't articulate. They say, "Eyes never deceive." But what about yours? They played a trick on me when they met mine, painting a facade of a world that wasn't real. They made me feel loved, Leading me into a belief that crumbled, louder than your spoken promises. Why did they betray me? Was it your eyes or you that masked the truth?" He stayed still, not moving or saying anything at her statement. --

Please don't read this, I wrote it in middle school and it's really bad. I just don't want to delete it because some people might get mad at me ;-; Maybe someday I will rewrite it. "What kind of fairytale is this? Where's the happy ending?" The little girl, approximately 7 years old, asked her mother. "That's what I wanted to teach you May, you should know now, that life isn't always going to have a good end. Bad things are going to happen, and if you play them off and ignore them, it will only worsen," May's mother explained. May nodded slowly. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Once upon a time, is how most fairytales start. Then, they end with a happily ever after. But not this story... There once was a prince, who fell in love with a girl. But she wasn't a princess. She was the hand maiden of a nobleman's daughter, who had eyes for the young prince. The prince and girl fell in love, but couldn't be together, for the nobleman's daughter grew jealous when she found out, and ordered them to be killed. This story was called "The Lover's Curse." As it passed down, generation through generation, it became known as only a legend, a myth. But it was true. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ It's up to May and Drew to break the hold destiny has on them, to fight for their own way. Will they live their happily ever after, or die trying? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Wow! This story was such an adventure for me. You can really tell the difference in my writing as time went on XD. I want to thank everyone who stuck with me through this story and supported me with their votes and sweet comments! I look forward to the next project!! YouDontKnowShipping

|<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>| -Pain. Pain was all that was left. My blood brothers watching me being swept away. Wet , thick, furious, waves groped onto me. Refusing mercy, forcing gasps in and out of my mouth. My body drenched, soaked, my body shivering with the pain already inflicted. My petite baby wings struggled against the strong current. "YN! Come on! Grab my hand-" The eldest of the flock went to reach out, his shaky hands stretching far as they could go. With a simple shove, I couldn't pull myself above the water. Fire rose, and it wasn't happy to leave. Wings flying above, as my people shouted. Getting themselves to safety. We were still too young. Too weak and our wings couldn't function, we were just flightless phoenix's. The 3 ran along the river, shouting, screaming for help. Trying to get our parents but they were just too focused on the war. "Avada Kedavra!" A feminine voice pitched with a psycho laugh screaming at the end. My uncle fell with his wings limping. Joining me in the ocean. "Uncle!" I cried out. My hands gripping onto him as his body was still floating on the water. Sobs screamed out, our home tree falling. Death eaters everywhere. The sight of falling Phoenix's traumatised me. It was a blood bath. My brothers tried to reach out once again. But the worrying dark witch, chased them. All that I could do. Was hold onto my uncle's lifeless body for support. Crying into his chest. However something broke out. A feeling, something unlocking in my mind. With anger, pain, sadness, my eyes gleamed at the death eater. Pain flickering, staring her down. She looked shocked. Surprised even. Stepping back, instead of killing me. She ran off. I was the first Phoenix with magic. |<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>|

Nothing left my mouth as I stared at him in shock. He truly believed that I was part of this. The man, who I had lived with and served for months. The man who I had protected with my life and soul. I stood still while, as he backed away from me quickly. "I trusted you with my life." His cry pierced around the empty room. He looked so destroyed and hurt, but mostly his face portrayed rage and determation. "And I protected you with mine." I spoke back loudly. I didn't hear myself say it but I knew I did. I look into his eyes even from our distance they seemed to wallow me in darkness. "I gave you mine." My voice was quiet and cracked. His face changed only for a second before his old one took over again. He doesn't believe me. It doesn't matter what I say or do he won't listen. He will still believe I am the bad guy. Just as Kane said, we will never be equals, we will never be fellow humans. We will always be monsters to them. "Yakov, I am not the bad guy." I plead one last time. His Russian accent comes out harsh with his next words. "Your right," he pauses, "you are the villain." I stumble back as if I had just been stabbed in the chest. It was a horrible feeling. It was never good with the emotions and yet I recognize the feeling as heart beak. I barely breathe in air as I regain my posture. A battle cry from somewhere distracts me momentarily. I suddenly remember Ewan. I glare at Yakov one more time before I take off after the cries of battle. Jade believes she started the war among the human and her kind. Nothing is as it was portrayed. The lies and the truth are hidden among each other. There is is no clear good and evil. How can there be if one does not know what is right and what is wrong. She was prepared to see death, prepared to inflict death upon others without mercy or remose. She was prepared to do her job which the Facility had given her. But now it doesn't seem so simple anymore. Instead she focuses on keeping her friends alive.

I'm not ready to die yet. There's still so much I have to do..." "Like what?" He sighed, "I've always wanted to sign up for the army - to help us win the war so that other children don't have to be separated from their parents like we were. I need to see my dad again, make sure he's okay and not dead with a bullet in his chest. I have to... apologize to Peter for being a complete arsehole of a brother. I have to tell Susan that I'm really thankful for her making sure I'm okay, even when I was so rude to her. I have to tell Lucy that despite all the problems we had as brother and sister, I love her... I love all of them... more than they know..." Amelia heard a single sniffle as he tried to wipe away the tears at his eyes by rubbing his head against the fabric on his shoulder. "We'll get out of here, Ed, you'll be able to tell them all. I'll make sure of it."
