Audrey Denali was a beautiful Native American girl. She was wise beyond her years. She was actually quite smart; graduating high school by the age of fifteen. One thing about Audrey that everyone should know, was that she had secrets. The secrets were kept between her and her mother, Odina. When Audrey was eighteen years old, she was attacked by a man while out with her friends. The man was later captured, after he had apparently attacked three other girls. Unlike the other girls, Audrey fell pregnant. The pregnancy wasn't easy, nor was it easy to hide from anyone else on the reservation, but she and her mother were able to keep the secret. When the pregnancy was no longer able to be hidden, Odina decided it was time for Audrey to branch out on her own. Instead of staying on the reservation, Audrey decided to find herself a home in the city. She figured if she got away from the reservation, she could find herself a boyfriend and be able to hide what happened to her. Everyone on the reservation would've accepted her son, but she felt ashamed of herself, so she couldn't make herself stay. Mateo Ezra Denali was born right after Audrey's nineteenth birthday. Audrey loved Mateo more than anything, even though she had to leave her home to raise him. He was her whole world, even at times when her world seemed to be crashing around her. A year later, when Audrey and Mateo were on their way home from the park, they were grabbed by a man who had been kidnapping women and their babies. The BAU had to work together fast to save Mateo and Audrey before the unsub had a chance to kill them. During the time they were trying to find the unsub and the people he captured, Garcia uncovers secrets the team never seen coming...

Lucielle Andrews thought for a good portion of her life, that she knew what her goals were. Graduate. Get married. Have kids. Be a better family than the one she grew up in. With her drug addict of a mother, and her sociopath of a father, her life was no where near easy. She wanted to be the mother her own never was, and marry a better man than her father was. That theory changed when she came home from school to tons of sirens, officers and medics. She was newly fourteen, and very confused as to why she wasn't permitted inside her own home. She never got to enter that house again. She was taken to the police station, and fell asleep in an officer's office chair that night. When she woke, she was told that her father was going away for forever, since he was guilty of six homicides, including that of her mother's. The FBI officers that had been at her house had told her this, and how they were gonna get her stuff and get her to her aunt and uncle, whom she never knew she even had. She was put on a flight to Virginia, and finished growing up there with her aunt and uncle. Once she graduated high school, she knew she wanted to go school for psychology, minoring in criminal justice. Her guardians thought the combination was odd, but she knew exactly what her plan was. Her plan was to catch people like her parents. And be the FBI agent to help out a child who was going through what she had. That's no childhood. Soon enough she'll be on her way to Quantico, but for now, an internship will suffice. -•- NOTE: This book takes place in 2008 around the fifth to sixth season of Criminal Minds. Her mother's final words, "Give your father and siblings a chance," still haunt her. But it's been twelve years since she last saw them, and their disdain for her lingers in her memory like a wound that never healed. She barely sees them as family. How can someone do that to their own child? The things they put her through have left scars too deep to forget. Will Elia finally give up, or will she find the strength to keep going? Can she ever forgive those who've hurt her, or will the pain only deepen her despair? And with fame and the relentless media hounding her due to her adoptive family, how can she ever escape and find peace? Will the trauma of her childhood continue to haunt her, or will she finally find relief from its grip?
