Everyone knew Percy was the most loyal person alive. He had been close to betrayal and that almost destroyed him. When he discovered the person he knew and loved more than anyone in the world had chosen someone different. He completely fell apart. There was no returning from this.

Annabeth was proud, too proud. She believed that she could solve her problems on her own. But when she was forced into something she didn't want she didn't know what to do. She couldn't think her way out of this. She watched helplessly as Percy turned away from her, and she slowly stopped fighting, believing there was nothing left to fight for.
