The sound of gunshots and shattered glass filled my ears.
Suddenly, the hall fell silent. I whipped my head around to the sound of footsteps only to find a gun pointed at my head. My body pumping with adrenaline, I spun around and kicked the pistol out of the intruder's hand and heard an awful crack. I glanced down at my seemingly uninjured foot. Shocked, I looked up just in time to see the intruder's body fall forward and behind it stood my best friend, baseball bat in hand.
"Fuck."
