In this dystopian novel, what's left of the world is separated between those of the immune with supernatural abilities (the outcasts) and those who do not, the people from the inside. 

Castreil is separated from his siblings after a deadly event. At an attempt to find them he embarks on a journey with one of their attempted captors, Kairos a trained soldier who has trouble remembering most of his life. They are both hit with trials and tragedies as more secrets are revealed about their lives. One being left shocked and betrayed and the other getting hit with a realization that makes him question everything, wondering if he ever was on the right side.
