People might think this poem is about a heartbreak between a human relationship with another person, but wrong it's about a owner and cat, if you could of had suspicious when it talked about purring and clawing.
To explain the poem, the cat has been abused and caused to have no care of sense cause it's an animal and doesn't feel a strongly connection as the owner. The owner has been abused and neglected, which is causing the owner to have a strong connection with the cat.
The cat hurts the owner, by clawing at the owner and hissing, in this term I used claws as a blade or dagger, and hissing as words or sobbing.
The owner starts to feel the cat has no sense of value of loving the owner back that's why at the end of the poem they get confused and think the cat had manipulated them.
I have believed a lot people will get confused when it talks about the daughter and sister part. The cat is a sister to the owner and a daughter to the owner as well but that's cause of the feeling of the connection, when it talks about the wife, it means best friend, and the value of the connection.
