Bea Porter-Blanchet, after two years of mindless copywriting in the attic of the Hamlyn "O" Courant, is finally promoted to the downstairs City desk in late 1959 where she'll work alongside (the tall) Arthur Hastings, (the inquisitive) Gemma Olsen, (the irritating) Danny Defoe, (the dull) Clive Hamilton, and (the dour) Mary Anne Evans and Currer Bell. While she juggles her new workplace friendships (and not-so-friendships) she must distract from an increasingly pressing issue that'll require coming to terms with past regrets.
Marked Mature for swearing and drug use consistent with the WHF universe. But if you enjoy office drama trivialities and a seemingly pointless story that may eventually have a point, please read on. Also - just to assuage any worries, I fully believe that Arthur MUST end up with Sally. Who am I to interfere with that?

Jules works freelance for various publications after a burnout that literally brought her to her knees. She gets asked to "interview" for a role in Tom's team, especially the German speaking market (we just assume that kinda role exists). She is skeptical to work for him out of fear to be reeled in re: Scientology. Also, due to a VERY ugly breakup with a previous client which led to her compensating her anger with more and more work which eventually caused the burnout, she has one rule: "I don't date my clients!" But once she gets to work with him, and Tom gets to know her better, they start to understand each other. However - there's the anti psychiatry stance of Scientology which will be forever between them. But will it really? Can Tom win her heart and will Jules be able to untangle his Scientology web? ****** DISCLAIMER: this is purely a product of my imagination. Aside from the original characters - Jules, Nora and some others - I don't own any of the people in the story. I also don't own the songs that are being quoted at the end of each chapter. Arthur Guinness centered torrid drama because I have been frothing at the mouth to write for this character since learning of the casting. As a result, the story herein bears little resemblance to the show timeline- if Stephen Knight can write fanfic, so can I?! Unabashedly bi-iteration of Arthur x Reader (stand in for his real life wifey Olivia) Plot? Oh that: you've been married to another man for the past five years, he's been trying to forget for the same duration, now that he's chained to Dublin, he cannot find it in himself to bear his long delayed passion with propriety. You find that, to your surprise, you do not wish him to. There will be smut. ----------------------- "We are both still in mourning." you demurred. "It's been seven months." Arthur remained callous about your poor sister. "It's been seven days for yours." you bit back. "Do you no longer admire my resilience, Madame?" he cocked his head, his cheeks slowly warming to a beautiful shade of peach from the vehemence of your banter, he always enjoyed having to hunt down his quarry, "There was a time when you called it my greatest quality."
