On the land of Ninjago Island everyone has a power or connection of having their own soul pokemon partner.

This is well known with all elemental masters.
All elemental masters have their pokemon linked with their element who can affect their inner elemental power.

Kai was working in his father's blacksmith with his sister Nya and the pokemon he got from his father, Charmeleon.
One day an old man with an Alakazam came over to them, but an army of skeletons and their fossil pokemon kidnaps Kai's sister.

The old man is out to gather a team of ninja who is destined to protect the land of Ninjago alongside their pokemon partners.
