"An assassin. That was what I was. That was what I had become. It all had started years ago, when I witnessed my parents' murders. And I learned something I hadn't known before: The world was corrupt. It was damaged, wrecked. I had to learn that the hard way. The High Ranks were said to be better, said to be the best. But no amount of wealth or riches changed the hidden truth above all others: they were not who they said they were." Selina Osiris Gray was normal. That is, before her parents were murdered and she was forced into a state of survival. Soon, she had to learn things - awful things - to keep herself alive in the brutally unfair society she lived in. And she had to learn to trust only her mind to make decisions, never her heart. Soon she became an infamous assassin, one that was feared and wanted, but always faceless. But everything changed once again when she began to notice small things, little details. Tiny rebellions and hints of humanity in her unjustified world. And maybe she had done terrible things, maybe she had gone through too much to ever be healed again, but regardless, Selina began to fight, and struggles came with it. Selina struggled between her past self and current self. Before, she was happy but helpless and now, she wasn't helpless, but she was guilty. Her past self was a vulnerable and weak little girl, but at least she hadn't been a murderer.

"I let him walk me through his whole plan to help me start a whole new life, like he was giving me directions to the nearest coffee shop. He made it sound just that easy. If only it was. I wouldn't keep finding the parts of my life, of myself, ripped to shreds. I wouldn't be left standing to try and put it all back together again. It had happened so many times very little of the girl I used to be remained, just whispers of ghosts in my soul were left." She was an assassin of the highest caliber, one of the best that exists, and she hunts and kills the world's most dangerous criminals. And she's only 23. No name, no identity, no proof that she exists. The only ones who could identify her are no longer of this earth. But it hadn't always been that way. She's proof that not all monsters are born, some are made. Then the one last shred of humanity that exists within her slips, and so does her target. Will the man she aimed to kill unravel her past? Will he finally piece all the broken parts of her together and find out how she became a killer? Not without the fight of both their lives.
