When an alien signal was discovered in 2050, a new age was supposed to dawn for mankind. However, Earth was scarred by World War III until 2065, when a string of disasters caused resources to dwindle and political mayhem broke out.
To unite mankind, the United States of Earth was formed in 2068. Along with it, the world's space agencies unified into Star Command, to give us another chance at the stars.
In 2130, one scientist's dream is realised when the first lightspeed ship takes off from Earth and leads its unlikely crew on a mission of their own, paving the way for more discoveries along the way -- some more unexpected than any of us could ever imagine.

Their invasion was swift, precise, and purpose-driven, ruined only by our own short-sighted counterattack that delayed the inevitable. And, during that delay, a small fraction of humanity managed to escape into the stars. With our homeworld of Earth gone in the blink of an eye, we are now forced to survive on modified cruiseliner starships and cling to life as our pursuers relentlessly hound us, the varying perils of space claw at our very existence, and our own simmering tensions threaten to break into a roiling turmoil.
