hanaki's disease forms from one sided love. uraruka's feelings for deku have been growing ever since they met. but when she finds out she has hanaki's disease, will she get the surgery? or will her lungs fill up for good?

It would usually be a coughing fit, but this night was different. Today, splotches of blood painted the toilet water. Denki was terrified. They cough up blood and petals until they find new love or get surgery. Some even let the petals worsen. The longer you have Hanahaki, the worse the petals are. If you get the surgery, it removes all emotions so you would feel nothing. Eijiro is head over heels in love with Katsuki but Katsuki doesn't return his feelings. Eijiro develops a disease called Hanahaki (see above) and this story is about his recovery and what recovery he will choose. Will he try to find new love? Hanahaki disease: Hanahaki develops when somebody has one-sided love. It is very VERY rare. The person's lungs fill up with flowers, the favorite color of their love. Eventually the flowers fill their lungs and they die. It can be healed if the person's love returns their feelings. But if the person gets rejected, they will die faster. Or they can have an operation, but they lose all memory of their love. (im bad at describing ok😭) What happens when izuku is put between life and death for his love? Something has been different in Class 1-A lately. The nerdy cup of cheer known as Midoriya 'Deku' Izuku has been wearing a medical mask to class. No one is entirely sure why, as he won't say more than "I'm fine", or "It's just a cough", even when it clearly is more than that. At least, Kaminari Denki thinks so. Kaminari has been crushing on Midoriya for quite a while now. Recently, he's been planning to confess. Mostly to try and cheer the boy up, as he's seemed quite down recently. But, Kaminari is racked with self-doubt. He's not sure if he actually is going to end up confessing. What if they don't like him? Meanwhile, Midoriya is hiding the severity of his condition from everyone. He doesn't want them to know. He doesn't want them to worry. Most of them aren't very concerned, but a few are. He claims it's just a cough. Says it'll pass eventually. Pretends he isn't coughing up bloodied petals. Pretends he doesn't have feelings for a certain someone. So, this is a Kamideku fic. There will be manga spoilers, as this takes place during the three-month time skip we saw not too long ago in the manga, after the Meta Liberation Army Arc. Also, I'm heavily messing around with how exactly Hanahaki works, cause, like, quirks, yeah? So, the PoV switches each chapter, therefore some chapters will be significantly shorter than others, and some will be a whole lot longer. For example- the first few chapters are significantly shorter than some of the later ones.
