As medical debt cripples much of the nation where most remain insufficiently insured or medically undocumented, The Fix is a hugely popular game show on which contestants compete in various challenges until one remains, winning their chosen surgical procedure or medical treatment for free. Some of the contestants have been grouped, waiting to compete, when they are confronted with the choices that have led them there.
