Inspired by M.R. James' ghost stories, 'The Bellarmine Jug' combines a Hauntologically ghostly narrative with local folklore research in order to explore how the palimpsestic nature of London's urban landscape inadvertently opens temporal rifts where time pleats back on itself.
Th story follows our protagonist, an isolated young natural scientist, who takes up the practice of mudlarking. Influenced by my local surroundings and my part-time job copywriting for a Holborn antiques shop, the story uncovers the uncanny draw of the washed-up objects that our protagonist finds on the foreshore.
