Society adjust after the Deviant Quake, a catastrophic event causing many deaths and gifting powers to others.

Vance, a sleep deprived detective catches a new case, a pyrokenetic serial killer at large. He hyperfixates on the killer while entertaining romance and coping with the loss of his mother and comatose sister. As the killer's attacks get increasingly maniacal Vance's obsession grows.
