The year was 0000. The western countries were ruled by military bodies instead of citizen elected governments. But their reckless expenditure caused the resources to burn out and gradually they set out to weaken the third world bodies by prompting a bio-war and destroying their socio-economic strength. A town in the eastern part of the globe that was once rich with natural assets is now being fought over by a dichotomy of foreign military powers. The natives of the town are imprisoned, forced to join the infantry or left to die. As the situation worsens, eventually eliciting into a war, young prisoners are brought to The Caliber to serve as Soldiers, Assassins, Servants and Nurses. The prevailing warfare unfolds around our primary protagonists, Blue, Daniel and Daphne. Blue is a twenty-two year old townie whose father served in the military and was locked up for being a traitor. She was taken to prison for his crimes until she was prepared to join The Caliber. When Blue arrives at HQ, she is charmed by this new world she is thrown into. But as the war prevails, she begins to experience numerous inner turmoils about who she would be without the repercussions of the disaster that was caused to her people by the ones that she is now fighting for. Daniel is an ex war strategist in his early thirties who experiences multiple tragic losses throughout his life. When he loses his wife to a bombing, he is ejected from his position and thrown out into the battlefield. Daphne, a young assassin in training is desperate to get out of the town. Tormented by the choices she did not make but was rather chosen for her by her mother, Daphne struggles to find meaning and succumbs to the temptations of love. Kayla Madison is a normal-ish sixteen-year old whose main desire is simple-make it through high school without embarrassing herself too much in the process. It doesn't help that she's being followed by dark figures no one else sees. When a man with incredible speed, unbelievable power, strange old-fashion clothes, and an obnoxious personality threatens her life, she discovers she is a rare "two-worlder" -a person with one parent from Earth and the other from Earth Prime. She escapes another attack by jumping through a portal to the alternate dimension, much to the chagrin of her protector. As if managing without electricity, cars, and phones on the more Edwardian world weren't enough stress; she finally meets her long-absent father, a scientist in the top-secret field of Trans-Dimensional Travel. Things get more complicated when she realizes her best friend's father, or rather the Earth Prime version of him, might have been the person that orchestrated the assaults. ___ Thanks for reading! I've been working on this story for quite a while and have drafts for a five book series. I would love feedback on what I can do to make it a stronger story. If there are things you enjoy, let me know (so I don't change those parts.) :) All portions of the story have been submitted and final chapters will visible by Nov 18, 2023. Among other degrees, I have my MFA in creative writing. I am a science teacher when I am not writing.
