Days have passed since Pods 042 and 153 completed the rebuild of their three android companions and successfully booted units A2 and 2B back to life. With the mysterious Tower having fallen, 2B went on a days-long journey to discover why her companion, 9S, had failed to return to consciousness. After several days spent traversing the surrounding environments in search of a remedy, she winds up at the base of the ruined Tower to excavate a possible lead, where the two pods begin to receive strange readings from 9S's vacant body.

Meanwhile, A2 has taken shelter in the nearby forest, reflecting on the events of the past several weeks in solitude. But they discover something that'll spark up hope in rebuilding. (I didn't play the game but I do have a gist of the story so I apologize if I get any information incorrect.)
