Those are the words drifting in the air of Denline City. What started out as rumors has become a real threat to its citizens; strange circumstances brought about by stranger people, some desperate to blend in with society -- and others who reject it outright. Whispers in the wind suggest that a ghost from the past is behind it all, from mass disappearances to an ever-rising body count.
Yet the truth remains lost in darkness. And in order to find it -- answers, evidence, and a missing friend -- one of the cursed mark-bearers ventures forth. All he knows for sure is that the numbers infesting Denline City, invisible to all but those branded like him, are the key to it all. But before long, his quest leads him to a threat beyond his imagining -- and a rebellion against reality itself.
