They were sheltered and raised in Essos under Prince Lewyn Martell, Ser Willem Darry, and their kin of the cadet Brightflame line, descendants of Prince Daeron "the Drunken," and Prince Aerion "Aerion Brightflame" Targaryen, in Braavos. In the house with the red door, Aegon grew into leadership, often clashing with his volatile uncle Viserys while finding love and strength in his bond with Daenerys. At sixteen, he wed her, fulfilling an ancient Targaryen custom, and the two welcomed a son, Jaehaerys, in 293 AC. For thirteen years, Aegon lived in exile, the reluctant head of his fractured house, trying to hold together a family burdened with both prophecy and pride.
