Aegon Targaryen, firstborn son of Prince Rhaegar and Princess Elia Martell, is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne and grandson of the Mad King, Aerys II. Older brother to Rhaenys and Orys, and nephew to Viserys and Daenerys, Aegon is one of the last surviving scions of House Targaryen. Gifted with powers that drew the attention of his grandfather, Aegon stood apart from his siblings from childhood. Tragedy followed quickly after his birth. His grandmother, Queen Rhaella, perished in childbirth with Daenerys when Aegon was only two years old.
