Dakota, a high school junior, spends most of his time picturing himself in another universe with a character who he knows will never be real.

I'm sure we've all been there.

Whenever he's not lost in his thoughts he spends most of his time with his best friend Emerson, a senior, who takes every opportunity he can to hang out with him, knowing soon their friendship dynamic will have to change once he goes off to college.

Dakota tells Emerson about all of his daydreams and thoughts, often going off on long tangents about how he wants one of those cheesy high school love stories often found in the books he reads.

But maybe if Dakota looks up from his page, he might finally realize what's in front of him.
