It doesn't help matters that his legs fuse together into a tail when he gets wet. It just means that he can't get away from his tormentors. When Zuko crashes into their village years later, he doesn't know what a water-kin is, but he does have second thoughts about facing down the startlingly attractive muscle-bound man standing in front of him. He's almost a foot taller than him, for Agni's sake! Unfortunately, he has to do this. If he wants his father to take him back (and maybe even forgive him), then he needs to capture the Avatar.
