Merlin thought he was doing the right thing. He thought telling Arthur that magic had no place in Camelot he'd be able to save his friend. When he sees the mistake he made, he leaves Camelot. Unable to handle the burden of the fate he'd condemned his friends to endure. Arthur, Gwen, Gaius, and the Knights of the Round Table seek out the Druids to find out everything they can about Merlin and his magic in hopes they can find their friend and bring him home.

(Merlin left letters behind explaining why he had to leave. A majority of the story will be centered on everyone except Merlin as they learn about him and his sacrifices)

Takes place after Season 5 episode 5, The Disir.

Boy From The Woods

20 parts Complete

Arthur Pendragon has always trusted his father's opinion of sorcery. He has witnessed, first hand, the atrocities Camelot's enemies could commit with the aid of magic. However, after Arthur, Morgana, and Gwen give shelter to a strange boy, Merlin, they find wandering the woods, Arthur begins to question all he knows. Will Arthur be able to protect Merlin from his dark past? What if Merlin wasn't raised by Hunith or even Gaius, but by a corrupt king intent on taking advantage of Merlin's power? **merthurish** (Also on AO3)
