Ella SinClaire is the heir to her family's fortune, and wants nothing to do with it. She is a curious girl, always asking questions others would deem "impolite" or "unladylike". Her family expects her to represent the SinClaire name, and to be a mother to many children. But, all Ella wants is to run away from home, and become a lone poet. When her stepmother insists that she get a portrait done for her 19th birthday, and hires a painter, Ella can't help but inquire why he had chosen to do what he does. They slowly begin to bond during their time together, but the closer the painting comes to being finished, the closer their time together comes to an end.
