Before Thomas, a girl was sent by mistake, with nothing but a vial of antidote in her hands and frantic scribbles on her arm with warnings for the Gladers. She's been the only girl in the maze since she first arrived. Ashley has accepted that her life will probably always be the maze but then she meets Thomas the new greenie in the maze. As Thomas learns about this new reality with the help of Ashley they eventually discover the secrets of the maze. This new world is soon turned inside out.
