In the middle of Esker's cold mountain winters, Roan wakes up to the sound of the local murder of crows screaming. He finds a starving wolf passed out in the snow.
This wolf is Silas, a shape-shifter bent on finding a mentor and his purpose. Someone who can explain what's happening to him. Roan might just be a missing piece in this winding puzzle Silas has found himself trapped in.
Determined to stay alone in his mountain cabin, Roan does everything to push Silas away. But nothing can stop the growing bond between the two. They set off on a journey, one far bigger than either of them expected.
