What is reality? I was John-now Charlie, a woman with a VR game tester's cunning and a professional whiskey enthusiast's attitude. But then AIs have risen, and my job evaporated faster than last night's drink.

Just when I hit rock bottom, this punk kid-barely old enough to shave-dropped a bombshell: "Reality's just a simulation." Sure, buddy. I laughed it off.

Until I woke up twenty years in the past.

Now, thanks to a hacking mishap, I'm a regular girl in reality-with a debt and an attitude-navigating Rimelion, the VR game I once mastered, as Charlie, an elven priestess with more than a few tricks up her sleeve.

Seriously though, fighting in high heels?

Will I claw my way up the nobility ladder? Dominate the rankings? Outwit the government and their plans to exploit us all? Maybe. But something's off.

The game feels too real. My memories don't line up, and everyone has their own version of what's true. Simulation? Reality? The lines are a blur-and I'm stuck in the middle.

If I want to stop a dystopian future, I'll need allies, both in-game and out. Oh, and avoid ticking off the AIs hunting me for bending the rules.

Survival's a long shot-but I was never one to play fair anyway.

"Hey! I don't want to go back! I tap out. Turn my soul into particles. I refuse!" I was unwilling. I had goals before all of this. I was once naive until everything changed. Nonsense! "Host, there's no need for drama. Accept your fate." I reached for anything-air, darkness, anything! The struggle felt so real. The terror and horror of returning to that place overwhelmed me. I loved them, yes, but not enough to endure that suffering again. I am a flower. A fragile flower. What they did to me was- "I don't want to go! I refuse to comply." "Host, do you want her to have them?" The system's cold voice whispered. Startled, I released my grip on the darkness, allowing my soul to be drawn away. "Your decision was wise, but as punishment, two more males will be added. Their last lives served well; it's a pity they'll be taken by another." The voice continued, but the host was unaware. She would discover the truth upon her arrival. To add intrigue, the latter parts were erased, allowing her to accept them without fear. The system smirked knowingly. This is my second life. I am still utterly confused about how I ended up in this situation. A choker made from my own tears. The man I thought was my big foster brother turned out to be-non-human. And me? I am human; I think I am. I sit in his lap, curled into a ball of loss. I feel so lost; I just don't understand. I claimed them, and then the world ended. It's enough that it ended. But why did they become powerful shifters while I mutated into a dud? I'm so confused that I want to cry, but I can't; I don't want their 'care.'

"Doesn't seem to work now that my DNA is so fucked I can't heal." I say to him, rolling my eyes. "So you agree that it is a change in your DNA?" Charlie says to me. "I don't know." I huff, angry at this whole debate. "I can't deal with humans fucking up every effort I have to live happy." "Does Father ever let you stay in Heaven?" "Only half the time." "And what do you do in Heaven?" "I fight. Sword fighting mostly, it's a big attraction. Our sword fights are as popular there as football is here." "Football?" He asks, his eyebrows raised. "Ugh, wrong era. Whatever." I respond, rolling my eyes at my own stupidity. A sudden hitch in my breath causes me to cough more, another clump of clotted blood coming forward into the towel I offer. "Life on earth is just a revolving door of wars, fighting, finding out angels exist, fighting over it, killing everyone that remembers, then back to the industrial revolution again. And there's almost always times when angels are outlawed and locked up." "Back to your problem though, do you agree that God may be trying to train you? Or maybe he's using you to remove the villains from society?" "The latter holds some truth. After all, I do get dumped into the human society when everything is going to shit." "Do you ever do wrong in Gods eyes? Maybe he's putting you down here to clean up society as a punishment." Book 4, yep I skipped one. Each book stands on its own. It's good to read the first before, but not necessary. I use wattpad as a back-up of my typed stories. I have so much more hand written, and if you truly are interested I will totally type more or even upload pictures of each page written.
