It’s a name everybody knows, loves, and respects. It’s the name of a beautiful princess, the face of the kingdom; the sweet, kind, and caring girl that’s intelligent as well as pretty.

But that’s just a mask.

Autumn “Asp” Penwillow has never been the princess type. She loves books, sweatpants, and imaginary worlds, in contrast to the dresses, makeup, and politics that she’s supposed to enjoy. But she doesn’t let anyone know that. She puts on the act that everyone wants to see, and they believe it.

All except for Jordan. He sees right through her.

But Asp’s life, along with her secrets, are thrown into turmoil when the rebels come. Suddenly she has to deal with an arranged marriage she doesn’t want, constant attacks on the kingdom, and the struggle of keeping her relationship with Jordan hidden, just to name a few. But unlikely friendships and alliances arise in unusual places, and they’re all that keeps Asp together.

In the end, however, it’s love that triumphs all. It always is.
