For Ebony Night, her society's main purpose was to help everyone find their soulmate. In the year 3037, she lives in a utopian society of Japan. At the age of eighteen, it is required to be given a bracelet that will lead you to your soulmate. Ebony was different than everyone else; she hated rules, she was rebellious, and didn't socialize well with most people.

Almost everyone at school was afraid of her. She had only two friends in the whole world. Who knew she'd get paired up with one of her best friends, Eren? Everyone got their true soulmate, except her. She didn't know that she wasn't actually meant to be with Eren, and they couldn't come off until the person found their soulmate.

During a night of vandalism, Ebony runs into Levi. He's also quite rebellious and doesn't get along with much people, either.

Seeing him as competition, she immediately grows a disliking towards him. As it turns out, he doesn't quite like her, either. But as time goes on, they both find a mutual disliking for the society, so they both run away. When Eren goes missing, Ebony feels desperate to save him.

And yet, she doesn't feel the bond to him like she's supposed to. She starts to feel it with Levi, and he does with her. And when they run away, all hell breaks loose, and secrets are unraveled. They didn't know that them being together, was fate.
