"Officer!" I yelled. I can't even hear myself over my heartbeat thumping against each side of my chest. "I think I found something!" Everyone rushes over to where I was standing. Their eyes widened. My flashlight runs over the path over blood while everyone follows the officer and me as we track the line. My foot falls on top of the stick, which cracks like uncooked noodles. But my body immediately fills with discomfort when I notice a torn piece of a purple knitted sweater, just like the one Maeve was wearing when she left for the party.

Let's go try to find your mom." She sighed. A raider was drawing closer to them, so they had to hurry... and Mercy knew it. "Run." She whispered to the girl, who was oblivious to the approaching attacker.
