Private Investigator David Walker is summoned out of retirement by an old friend in an effort at finding her housekeeper's missing granddaughter. Chicago Police have had the case for a solid week and haven't turned up any trace of missing 21-year-old Kierra Johnson.

David is at first reluctant to take the case, assuming Kierra is not missing, only run off with her boyfriend. And that she'll return once the white hot passion of first love has been sated. City leaders, fearful they have an active serial killer working the West and South sides of Chicago, are hard at work keeping the story hidden even as charred burnt bodies of missing young Black women are turning up all throughout the historic Bronzeville area of Chicago.
