Shota didn't have the best relationship with his parents. And by that he means they didn't have one at all.

If he had to choose one way to describe it, he'd say their family dynamic was like an unspoken contract between business partners. They lived their separate lives and only contacted each other when it came to technical matters. It was simple, it was logical, and he was fine with it. And when he moved out at 18 with nothing but three words as a final goodbye, he was still fine with it.

It's only after thirteen years had passed, when his parents show up at UA's gates claiming to have no motives other than finally getting to know their only child, does he realize he was not, in fact, fine with it.

(cross posted on ao3, alternate title is 'trying and failing to write aizawa centric angst'. I don't own Bnha, nor do I own the artwork on the cover, both belong to Horikoshi. This is just a fanfic dedicated to it.)

(Y/n) Togata, a now third year, has figured out that her teasing and joking have been confused for flirting with her teacher, Shota Aizawa. She decides to no longer tease him and focus on her current relationship. But little did she know that her teacher would miss her teasing and want it back. He's never felt this way so why won't it go away? It couldn't be something more...could it? How does he truly feel about her? "I know ok?!" - Izuku screams, he never screams. Shōto flinches and fights the instinct to cover his ears as he stays put with his back against the bedroom door. Fuyumi frowns with the headphones in her hands, ready to place them over his ears, but for once Shōto wants to know. "He's not special! He's just-" - the sentence stops, Inko warns him to stop as it often happens and somehow Shōto wishes Izuku wouldn't stop. He needs to hear it, he needs someone to say that word. "I'm your son, you birthed me, and still I'm never a priority..." - Izuku says and his voice breaks. It's quieter this time. Shōto opens the door and takes a tentative step outside, not really knowing why: maybe to confront Inko, or maybe to comfort Izuku. The entrance door slams and he's faced with only Inko. She looks at him with so much guilt she might as well just have killed a man. "I'm sorry..." - she says and Shōto doesn't understand what she's actually sorry about. ~ To sum it up: Tōya decided to run away from his abusive household with his sibling. Endeavour face a trial for child abuse that lead to his immediate hero career decline and incarceration. While Tōya manages to run away with Natsuo, Fuyumi and Shōto end up in a foster home. The foster family just happens to be the Midoriyas. ⚠️𝙒𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨 ⚠️ • It's a boyxboy (don't like it ➡️ don't read it) • Canon divergence • Might contain mention or reference to child abuse • ASD & PTSD • Quirkless Izuku

Trust is a fickle thing, isn't it?

26 parts Complete

Trust for Izuku Aizawa was a fickle thing, he'd constantly be forced to switch between trusting someone with his whole heart to hating them with every fiber of his being. Such was the story of his father, his teachers, his classmates, his old friends, hell even his own mother (though he never did or ever could hate her). The only person he trusted was his sister and it stayed that way for a long, long time. It stayed that way until he was adopted by Shouta Aizawa and Hizashi Yamada, he gained a new brother and sister both of whom he loved dearly. He finally felt able to trust the people around him and it was a breath of fresh air for not only him but his sister as well. There were bumps in the road but his new family stayed together.
