"Normal." Does that term even exist? If so, what exactly is it? For I would very much like to know.
I have never really fit in anywhere. Always standing out. No matter how hard I try to stick to the shadows, to blend in. And perhaps I stood out for a reason.
My "story" started at a very young age. Around the age of seven if I remember correctly. I started having visions, memories, of another life. My young self wasn't sure what they were until I grew older. Then I realized... They weren't just dreams. Dreams didn't make one feel pain when they awoke. Dreams didn't feel as if one could reach out and touch the people. They were so realistic it was unbelievable.
Several questions remained throughout several years,
- 'Who were they?'
- 'What does "Kurdu." Mean?'
- 'Why are they calling me Laela? (Lay-la) and Traveller?'
- 'Why do I look different?'
- 'Who is the strange man with a blue hat and yellow shoes?'
- 'And what about the River Woman's Daughter?'
Eventually, little did I know... I would find out.

IMPORTANT INFO: I have a severe health issue named Epilepsy (seizures) it is drug resistant and uncontrolled. Meaning, I have them every day and often end up in the ER. Each seizure has me recovering for 1-3 hours. I hope you can understand. This health issue alone will leave me unable to update for days, weeks, sometimes months. I apologize in advance.

BOOK ONE: Having enough courage to run through the woods and away from the people who convinced me they were saving me was not how I believed I'd spend my day. Yet, there I went escaping from the only place I knew existed in the world. Being held captive was too much for me, especially when these people wouldn't tell me who they were or even who I was. The first moment in my life I recall very clearly. I awoke in a dark room, with recollection of everything that happened in the world except for one thing. I had no memory of myself existing, I didn't know where I was or why these men kept me from leaving. Days after I first woke I asked plenty of questions, and yet none of them were answered. The only thing I learned was that I was not allowed outside because the woods heald the most powerful magic on the planet, the most dangerous magic. It was more than just bad men and curiosity about the forest that got me to leave, it was a pull towards something; towards magic. Once I was in the forest turning back was never an option, so I put it in my head that I'd keep walking until I found a civilization or a nice paved road that would lead to safety. But that never happened because the forest has a force living through it. Believing that the forest held something strange was the easy part but experiencing it myself was something totally different. I didn't expect anything normal but I didn't expect to be completly engulfed into the forest. I was led by an unknown presence that made me truly believe it was a living being, and in fact it is. I was innocent then, but now I know that anything can be hidden under a small platform in the woods with a secret bigger than the world itself. I was given life that day, until it all ended months later; the day I took my last breath.Complete

Artemis that's my name. A Long long time ago a young elf prince gave it to me. He was the crowned elf prince of Mirkwood. His name Legolas he was a very kind young elf. I had saved him from drowning when he was only 10, well looked 10 anyway. Since he is an elf they age very slowly just like my kind. After I saved his life that day he wouldd often come see me. Each day just to learn about me and my race. Since we'll, im a mermaid. I'm the last of my kind. He and I grew up together and my feelings for him became one of love over time. I loved him but it was dangerous for me because mermaids can only love once. If my heart breaks it will turn to stone and stop beating, it will grow old and cold and it will stop and never start again. My body will live but it would be a shell of a mer. One day Legolas had come to see me by the river, he told me about a young she-elf named Tauriel. He told me about how he had feelings for her and how amazing she was. My heart hurt at those words. He had fallen for another. That day I told him I loved him and that I would never forget him. Then I grabbed his face with my hands and kissed him. When I kissed him a tear slid down my cheek, when it hit the ground it turned into a white pearl. I kissed him because I loved him but when I kissed him I took away every memory of him and myself. I let go and put my necklace around his neck. It was a green stone with markings on it. We called it our hearts we would give it to the ones we love. I looked at him one last time before jumping back into the water leaving the one I love.Complete

What is even more complicated is that they fall in love and try to run away because they know that they wont be staying long yet a part of them wants to know what will happen if they give in to their feelings? How will they handle what they are and What will they choose? Will they fight for what they want or will they run away, hurting themselves and the ones they love? This is a fanfic.
