Vera let her head fall onto his left shoulder, inching her body closer to his.
"You make me so nervous, you know that?" Even with all it's concern, her sentence made Norton smile and she smiled too. Norton knew very well that she loved him so much. Enough to worry about his recklessness, and spend hours pacing around during his matches afraid that he would not come out alright.

The gentle touch of Vera's hand rubbing comforting circles into the calloused hands of Nortons made his stomach flutter. "I know I do. Sometimes I feel like I worry you too much," his dark eyes moved from their intertwined hands up to her eyes. "I mean there are days when I don't even know if I'll get out. But I couldn't imagine not seeing your beautiful face after almost dying."

She replied, her voice equally as monotone. "Aye, I am." He nodded, "But that is not why you stare." "I do not stare with pity if that is what you are suggesting." The first time Mira saw him, he was bleeding. A cold night. A flickering streetlamp. He sat on the curb, knuckles split, blood dripping onto the pavement like ink staining a page. She should have walked away. Should have pretended she didn't see him. But she didn't. Instead, she crouched beside him, her voice soft but steady. "Who did this to you?" He laughed-a low, bitter sound. "Does it matter?" Mira didn't know his name yet. But when their eyes met, something inside her recognized him. Not his face. Not his voice. His pain. Because she had the same kind buried in her bones. --- His name was Riven. And trouble followed him like a shadow. He never spoke about his past. Never explained the bruises. Never asked for help. But Mira saw the anger in his fists, the exhaustion in his shoulders. The war he fought every time he looked in the mirror. And despite herself, she stayed. Even when he told her to leave. Even when his darkness bled into her light. Even when she knew-this would destroy her. --- One night, he showed up at her door, drenched in rain, eyes empty. "I did something bad." Mira's breath caught. "What did you do?" Riven didn't answer. He just looked at her, jaw clenched, chest rising and falling like he was trying to breathe through whatever monster was clawing at his ribs. And she knew. It wasn't just a fight this time. It wasn't just another wound to clean up. He had crossed a line. And now, there were only two options-run, or drown with him. Mira should have been afraid. Should have shut the door, called the police, saved herself. But love made people stupid. So she stepped forward, wiped the blood from his cheek, and whispered, "Then we leave. Together." Because blood runs thicker than water. And love? Love was the thing that made you stay-even when you knew it would kill you.

"But you're scared." He finished, running his fingers down her neck and to her collar bone, following the chain of her necklace, making her shiver, "So responsive." He murmured to himself. "Yes." She whispered, lips parted, eyes locked with his. She felt dirty for letting him be so close to her and touch her in a way that seemed so foreign and inappropriate- Yet exhilarating... "Maybe scared isn't the right word." His deep baritone voice rumbled, his fingers setting her skin on fire as he reached the opening of her top, the only thing dividing them, "Maybe, confused? Intimidated? But you're not scared of me, right, pet?" "I- I don't know." She answered, her heart pounding against her ribcage, making her shake nervously. "You're scared of this-" his hand lifted back up to circle around her throat and he applied slight pressure, but nowhere near enough to hinder her ability to breathe, "or this." He bent down so she could feel his hot breath skim across her cheek making her face flush. His rough lips, ran across the base of her jaw until he reached her ear, "But you're not scared of me." ~•~•~ 19-year-old Vera Reed is out on her own for the first time, leaving small town Tabor, Iowa for Lincoln, Nebraska to attend college at UNL in her old red Subaru. Zara Romanov, the Romanian Princess-hated one thing, defeat. All her life, she had been served her desires on a golden platter. Until, her 'bodyguard', Adriano Moratti, comes strutting into her life. He began to dictate her life in the name of safety, making Zara despise the man more dangerously. ꧁꧂ "That pretty mouth of yours," Rio taunts, his tongue poking the inside of his cheek as if he was debating on finishing off his sentence. "One day, it's going to get you into a lot of trouble, Zara." The sides of my lips tip up in a feisty smirk as I register his words and lift my head up in defiance, "If you think I'm pretty, just say it." "You want it clear?" His eyes darkened and he chuckled out, blowing out a long, harsh breath. "You're pretty. Too fucking pretty for my ability to control myself." My grin begins to drop slowly and my mouth parts open at his sudden outburst of words about my appearance, "Rio..." "You're so effortlessly breathtaking." He continues, not giving me half a second to compose myself from hearing his previous words. It did something to me, a feeling I hadn't felt before. "I could watch you count infinitely, and still not get bored." I should be quite creeped out by that last sentence, but I was turned on. Exquisitely, turned on. I don't say anything, perhaps, I didn't know what I was supposed to say. I've never had a man be so blunt about my attractiveness. What were I to say? That I wanted him to continue on with his sweet words? That I wanted him to- "Is that enough clarification, princess?" Rio cuts off my train of thoughts from becoming any more improper than they already were. If my trainer were to be able to hear inside of my mind, she would have had a heart attack.

LUCAS I sat next to her on the couch and brushed her hair from her face. She was all sweaty. " Lucas ..?" She hummed. " I'm here.." " I'm sorry, I'm an embarrassment..." I chuckled. "No you're fine you just drank too much. We were trying to sober you up, then we found you at the bar drinking shots!" It was really a funny sight as I recalled. " Lucas ?" Her eyes pried open again and she stared at me. "Yeah?" " Will you stay with me tonight?" SKYLAR He hugged me again. I could never get enough of his hugs, and still I wanted more. I wanted more than that with him. It hurt so much knowing that it could never be so. "Don't be sorry, I'm just happy I got to you in time." Lucas' voice was so gentle, so sweet and sincere. If I didn't pull away from him I would start to cry again. I held my breath, my hand pressed a little more on his back. As I did this though I felt him tense up from my touch. "S-sorry," I stammer and attempted to pull away, but he brought me back into his chest. "Don't." his voice was firm. "Don't...let go." ********************************************************************* Their near death experience on a flight to NY causes two strangers to meet.
