•	Rulers and scales- Rulers and scales are used to measure lengths and geometry. This tool is a frequently used measuring instrument in mechanical engineering. Scale/Ruler may be a single steel plate of flexible tool. They have a range of measuring scales of inches or cm. Quick measurement of parts is done with scale/ruler. They are kept with other measurement gauges or tools for easy access. These are made of stainless steel so that they'll not rust or corrode.

•	Calipers- There are two types of calipers- inside and outside caliper. They are both used in some way to measure the internal and external size(which is also called diameter) of an object. Calipers also require an external scale for comparison of the measured value. Some of the modern-day calipers are integrated with the measuring scale. There are 2 other types- odd leg and divider caliper.

•	Vernier Caliper- Vernier caliper is a quality measurement gauge. IT is used to measure small parameters with high accuracy. This measurement gauge contains two jaws that are used to measure the inside and outside of the object.

•	Micrometer- Micrometer is an excellent precision tool. It is used to measure small parameters just like Vernier Caliber, but with much more accuracy. The size of a micrometer can vary in size from small to large. A micrometer is available in two types. They are called inside micrometers and outside micrometers.

•	Feeler gauge-This measurement gauge contains thickened steel strips of different thicknesses that are bundled together. The thickness is marked on each strip. Feeler gauges are used to measure gas or clearance between the surface and bearings.
