Harry wasn't expecting to have a panic attack from DADA class. He also wasn't expecting to be shown the effect of the Killing Curse up close and personal, not when his own mother's green-tinged scream still rings in his ears every single night.

In a burst of panic, The-Boy-Who-Lived runs to the only place - the only person - he feels safe with. His adopted father, his Da, Severus Snape.

Who is also the only person he's not allowed to love, not if he wants to keep them both safe in the prologue of this inevitable Second Wizarding War.

[PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 18] "You're kind of like a Safe Haven, you know?" "How long have you been waiting to make that pun?" "You have no idea" Haven Goldspear, an orphan of the War like so many others, was left alone. Both parents killed in the two Wizarding Wars, no direct family she still had contact with, and the fellow Hufflepuffs who could barely be called 'friends'; she was utterly alone in the world. Her coping techniques would probably be discouraged if she went to a therapist but those small acts of her exploding anger were the only things that could keep her going. That, and the newfound friendship she made at Hogwarts when she returned, along with most of the others from her year, as eighth-year students. Harry was grateful for the support the Weasleys had given him over the months but they didn't understand. Their situations were completely different even though they went through the same trauma. Everything angered Harry, he felt alone - weird considering how packed The Burrow was - and the fact that Ron and Hermione sneaked off to Ron's room at least once a day did not help. Maybe Haven's coping techniques weren't therapist-recommended and rarely safe, but it helped them to release all their anger and frustrations. Not only on glassware and walls, but on each other. He, a double spy, a man as complex as the magic that surrounds him. A Master of Potions and of Dark Arts, and a prisoner of his own past. In the dimly-lit dungeons of Hogwarts, where shadows dance & secrets whisper, stands a man charged with taming the beast hiding within her. His orders, clear. His path, one of no return. And she's the final key to it all. In a world where betrayal & sacrifice twist and turn, a dark tale of deception and desire unfolds under the looming clouds of the wizarding war. The line between friend and foe blurs as a choice must be made. One that will mean the difference between life and death, as the simmering cauldron of forbidden love with its shimmering fumes bewitches the minds, ensnares the senses, teaching them how to bottle pain, brew longing, and even how to put a stopper in death. But in the darkest of times, if anything is possible, then everything is at stake. ✨Word count: 226,854✨ ❗Tags/TWs:❗ Slow Burn, Angst, Age Difference, Hurt/Comfort, Violence, Blood, Death, Past Abuse, Dark, Dark Past, Past Violence, Gentle for SO, Sexual Content, Explicit Sexual Content, Possessive/Protective SO
