"Mom?" A sob escaped my mouth as I sat alone. I was in a dark alley and shadows loomed everywhere. "Mommy where did you go?" My five year old self was left alone in an alley in the middle of nowhere. I stood up, looked around and caught a glimpse of a shadow. i walked toward it still yelling for my mom. A woman came out and I looked up in relief. She hugged me and said goodbye and left me standing alone in that dark alley defenseless, alone, scared, and...........lonely.

When she was five, Mara Cordon was abandoned. By her family. She was sent to an orphanage when she was 5 years old. After many years, she finally turned 13, and was adopted by the Cordon family. She gets into UMASS at age 17 for her academic levels. Over the summer, she goes back to Denver, her home town and meets some new friends.
