Howling | Hope Mikaelson

River Dean grows up in a small town with adoptive parents. While her brother begins to rebel and her sister mutates more and more into a bitch, she unexpectedly gets into danger and activates the werewolf gene, which has lain dormant in her since birth, through a murder. Since her adoptive family cannot offer her answers to her questions, she sets out on the trail of her true parents, hoping to find out more about what is happening to her.

Her path takes her to Mystic Falls, where Alaric Saltzman becomes aware of the unknown werewolf in the woods. So, more or less by chance, she comes across the Salvatore Boarding School, where she hopes to get a little closer to her goal. She meets Hope Mikaelson, who tries to help her find out everything about her family, but at the same time pulls her deeper into her own problems.
