30 Days, 30 Stories: A Writing Challenge
This is a 30 day writing challenge, a collection of short stories. I've always been a world class procrastinator. The goal of this challenge is to get me writing regularly and, hopefully, break me of the perfectionist thinking that often paralyses me. The Rules: 1. Write and publish 1 short story (flash fic, vignette) per day for 30 days. 2. Stories must be at least 100 words. 3. They can be of any genre or subject matter. Like a lot of writers I have notebooks lying around full of random story ideas. Most of my older ideas are for novels and screenplays. Been going thru my old ideas and picking out the ones I think lend themselves to the short story format. I'm also working on coming up with NEW ideas that I can use here. Never been good at using prompts, but this is a good opportunity to experiment with those. All the stories here are original works written specifically for this challenge. (M/N). A young boy who is unable to speak. Not able to make a sound. To make up for it he has amazing art skills. His parents hated it. They didn't want to pay for lessons to speak.They wanted a child who could talk. Not someone who "waists their time on childish things like drawing." They didn't want to have this.... mistake of a child. They thought they deserved a normal child. So they had another child. Who COULD speak. And they absolutely spoiled and loved him. So Rick naturally was a jerk. Which caused (m/n) to one day crack and lose his sanity after a long beating. He becomes the true demon inside him when it comes to killing. His inner psychopath. As (m/n) walks through the forest, unsure of what to do next, he meets a tall man. A man who could enter (m/n)'s mind. A man who had no face. That man took (m/n) in, into a mansion of killers just like himself. And (m/n) couldn't feel more like at home. (M/N) makes lots of friends. But one caught his eyes the first time they met. The tall man was introducing (m/n) to the rest of the killers. (M/N) saw that most of them had masks. But one particular blue mask caught his eyes. Zack is just a normal boy who lives in London with his best friend, Samantha. Everyone in his school and his family knows the story of Jack The Ripper, the ruthless serial killer who's target was mostly female prostitutes. His murders were brutal. He'd gut his victims and let them die a slow, painful death. Zack hates when he learns about Jack The Ripper in school. It makes his skin crawl. For some odd reason, he can't stand his stories of murder. If somebody just mentions him, he shushes them up quickly before they can continue. But of course, Jack The Ripper is long dead, and can not hurt anyone anymore. Until he comes face-to-face with the maniac, who has taken his mother.
