Wilbur has never been talkative with people outside his family and that increased after he got sold, experimented on and much, more. So it's safe to say Wilbur has trauma. Whenever he spoke up for food or freedom he got beat, and whenever he tried to escape he got caught and beat until one day, when the institute got raided.... That day the world lost many kind souls... but he was free! So he ran.

Things were alright on the SMP, Wilbur and Tommy had already established L'manburg, Dream was angry at the two of them but didn't seem to be doing much about it, not too much conflict was going on.
