He was a lonely child. But he had one friend. A friendship born from need, a friendship that has stood for almost thirty years. A friendship that has developed, developed to the point that each needs the other to survive. But Sherlock needs to leave. And he doesn't know how he will survive. He relives it, every moment of the thirty years they have spent together. But it will finish. As Sherlock Holmes stands on the top of the building, looking at his oldest friend, flatmate, colleague, lover, he wonders if he made the right choice, becoming John Watson's friend. Because Sherlock needs to leave John. And Sherlock doesn't think he can. DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of the Sherlock characters, they were all invented by the amazing Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and physical descriptions and some plot lines belong to BBC's Sherlock.

This story is to be understood as a continuation of the oneshots "Pants", so you should have read it before. It's about how John struggles to teach Sherlock a little bit to understand the social interactions of his fellow men. And Sherlock struggles to learn. ...and in the process, sometimes taking unusual paths. Please be aware that english is not my first language.

John finds Sherlock on the vile, horrid streets in the darkest part of london, and helps him. He does not know why, or how, but nevertheless he cares for him. He was never able to pry into much of Sherlock, and vice versa. But over time, slowly and carefully he gets Sherlock to open up. And there he finds his deepest and darkest secret he holds. But as John's world grows enventually, Sherlocks has begun to shrink - and rapidly. How far will John go to save the boy he has come to love completely? A typical JohnLock fan-fiction ;) In this story, a new villain surfaces. Sherlock and John find themselves closer than ever, and we follow their adventures through kidnapping, marriage, fatherhood, heartbreak, and even dealing with an old arch-nemesis...
