Abner Ingleseid isn't an ordinary detective.
  
  He works solely for Hell, and being a previous resident himself, he knows the playing field pretty well. So when a group of ex-militia Demons are murdered, the race is on to find the killer before he summons an ancient, unearthly evil. 
  
  But Ingleseid and his friends soon learn that the case is far more dangerous than they thought when its ties to an evil older than time itself is revealed. If Ingleseid wants to get out alive, he'll have to deal with demons, vampires, witches, fairies, zombies, the soldiers of Heaven and Hell, and even the king of the Underworld himself. 
  
  Time is running out. If Ingleseid doesn't solve the case soon, he,  his city, and everyone he cares about will pay the price.

However, his attempts to bring the 'chosen few' under his wing do not go as well as he hopes. Lindsey, on the other hand, falls into a category of his own. As a vampire, death is no stranger, but given the lack of newly deads to choose from after the post-Flu population drop, avoiding starvation has become a struggle. He survives by sleeping through his days, but the arrival of a past enemy and a less-than-wise decision to help a murderer force him back onto the road. Unfortunately, he quickly discovers that the new world does not follow the same logic that it did before. TL;DR - Most of the world died from a flu pandemic so there's a post-apocalyptic type situation where demons possess people.

She's been struggling with a hole in her life, the loss of someone she cared about, someone who's been gone for far too long. Desperate for answers and willing to do anything, Maya ends up making a deal. It's one of those things you hear about in hushed tones, something that sounds almost too unreal to be true, but she doesn't care. All she wants is for them to come back, and the cost? Well, she figures she'll deal with that later. But just as she's about to seal the deal, Leo shows up, like some kind of reluctant hero. He tries to save her, to break the bargain before it's too late, but his intervention backfires. The deal takes its toll on her in a way she never expected, half of her soul gets torn away, scattered across town. To make things worse, part of the demon that tricked her takes root inside her, filling the void and granting her powers. But it's not all gifts. With those powers comes the threat of losing who she is, of being consumed by the very thing she tried to control. Maya is left with a terrifying choice: use the powers to reclaim her soul or risk losing herself completely.

Willing to do whatever it takes to be redeemed he must also find a way to win the heart of a girl. Both may seem impossible but when you're as determined as him nothing is impossible. While businesses at the hotel is starting to gain momentum two polar opposite demons are doing everything they can to convince themselves they don't like the other. One is a sexy demon who works for Valentino and the other is a big fat demon who can't seem to stop eating. One lives in the lap of luxury and the other lives in what can only be described if a pig pen, an all you can eat buffet, and a dumpster had a baby. Both satisfied with the lives they live they can't help but feel different when around the other. Now they must decide if they'll go through the motions of their lives or give in and admit their love.
