In 2050, on this exact day, an eight year old boy in Tammela, Finland grew wings.
The next day, he murdered seventeen people.
His condition had occurred due to the appearance of an unknown gene in his body- a gene that had been revealed to have existed in every human- causing his body to evolve and mutate in rapid speed.
But the price for this mutation is your sanity, people soon realized- and when those 'traits' become dominant, they're no longer the person they were before. They change. Lose sight of themselves. Become monsters.
And the only people who can fight these monsters are the Chosen, a government-chosen group of soldiers who are the sole people able to withstand the mutated traits and protect the people around them.
Sadly, though, this book ain't about the Chosen.
It's about the people who are out to kill them.

Both 18 and having been born on the same day, they were raised as twins, Luna adopting Lara's surname because of her own being unknown. Westhaven is a lovely town, the perfect place to live the american dream in. There is only one problem. Not only there, but in almost every place in the world, human beings are branded with a number, that being the amount of supernatural abilities they possess. By the time each child reaches the age of 18, that number becomes permanent, and everyone with a ranking above 5 is taken away. From that moment on, they belong to the government, and must train in government facilities that are a lot like prisons or army bases. Their eyes are changed by machines, and they are identified for the bright aura-like color that surrounds their pupils and contrasts against their natural eye color, "the sunflower effect".
