Ninety-seven years after a devastating nuclear apocalypse wiped out most human life on Earth, thousands of people lived in a space station orbiting Earth, which they called the Ark. Except... there wasn't just the Ark, but another small space station just out of sight from the Ark, called Astral.

Having a much smaller population, Astral was set to survive for hundreds of years... until a rebellious teen decided to cut the air supply to spite his own father. With only half of the space station managing to escape and survive by going down to Earth, the remainder die in space, splitting families apart.

Distraught and traumatised, the survivors landed on Earth and seek refuge at a place they learn very quickly is Mount Weather, though they don't expect to become trapped and turned into victims of their experiments done to save their own.

When Astralkru decide to work together with Skaikru to escape, they realise that there's safety in numbers and the remaining survivors from Astral will really struggle to make it on their own. So when Clarke Griffin offers for them to join forces, Valencia Martinez isn't completely opposed.
