I feel I need to put this disclaimer up because I've seen a few new readers here that haven't voted on Fate's Encounter and though it's not fundamental that you read it first, there will be things in this book that may be a bit confusing if you don't know the characters from the first book.

Over 50 years have passed since Xai'an and Zena have started their lives on Yautja Prime. Happily they have had several healthy Yautja males as is expected. What they DIDN'T expect was the daughter that came out looking more human than Yautja. It's something that shouldn't be possible...

Rosalene, or Rose for short, is the only female hybrid born of a Yautja and human. She's stuck with being treated as a human because her father seems all too keen on babying her for her soft appearance.
