Calista is a late bloomer. At 25 her secondary gender has failed to reveal itself, allowing her to live a dormant life as a beta up until recently.

She doesn't know how it kickstarted or why, but after a long 7-9 shift in the office, her stiff bones relaxing against the cold walls of the elevator as she travels to the first floor, a heat comes over her. Suffocating in nature and heavy on her skin, she is forced to smell the strong wafts of pre-rut pheromones that perfumes from her scent glands.

Alpha. After 25 years of believing she'd never show, she suddenly presents as an alpha. She should be happy, elated even, but the other person in this giant metal box would not agree. Jade, her cube mate and casual friend, is pressed up the opposite wall, hand covering his nose as his own omega fumes fill her nose. She's smelt him before, everyday actually, but he's never smelt as alluring as he does now. "I-I thought you were a beta?" Jade looks at her panicked. 

"I thought I was too!" Calista has to cover her own nose, biting her lip to restrain herself. "I guess I was wrong."

"You're gonna..." Jade gasps and keens. "You're gonna send me into an early... early heat."

"Shit, I-" Calista pauses when the elevator jerks to a stop on the first floor, but the doors fail to open. 

They're stuck. An Alpha on the brink of rut and an Omega on the cusp of heat are trapped in a small box together with nothing but their pheromones and instincts to keep them company. Whatever shall they do?
