She lifted my shirt all the way and began to trace a certain area of my stomach. Her touch had electricfied my insides.
"War? What does that mean?" She said, referring to one of my bold tattoos. She traced it carefully
War---the demons versus me. The world versus me. Everybody and everything was against me. I didn't believe anyone was on my side. So one day, not too long ago, I decided to get a tattoo that summed up my life. War.
"It means a lot." Of course I couldn't tell her the full story. No one but me could know.
"You always do that."
"Do what?"
"You always leave me in the dark---why do you leave me in the dark? I hate the dark."
"Because--I can't trust---anyone." I stuttered, feeling as if Jasmine was beginning to rip the outer layers of me and discover my hidden secrets.
"You can trust me."
I stared at her for some time and I believed in her every word. She had seemed so honest, so easy to trust. I thought it would have been foolish not to believe in her.
"What if you leave?"
Then I'd be broken all over again. I'd have a scar overlapping on other scars. Who would fix me then? Who would save me from myself?
Jasmine crouched down, her hands still firmly placed on my chest. Her lips pressed against my tattoos, sending my nerves to panic once more.
"I won't leave you--I'll find a way for the both of us, Uzi. I promise." She hummed against my skin.
"Even if you--find out who I really am?" I asked shakily.
