50'000 years ago the Prothean's were defeated, and ultimately indoctrinated by the Reapers. Wiping them out completely from the Galaxy, or so they thought. Some Prothean's were put into hibernation by their scientists, only to be awoken when the next empire rose up and dominated the Galaxy. That didn't happen, and ultimately these Prothean's died frozen and alone. In the current cycle, a former Alliance marine turned mercenary, Harvey 'Phoenix' Jenkins, lay dying on the battlefield, in the middle of the Reaper invasion, gasping for breath hoping against hope that Shepard would win. A large hole in his chest, before his life slowly faded away and he perished on the battlefield alone and surrounded by death. But fate, had something very different in mind for a Harvey. He wasn't allowed to rest in peace, no his fate lied elsewhere, and was now bound to the fate of the Galaxy, Shepard and the Reapers.
