Intended to do the Time War justice to what it was described and implied to be, which "The Day of the Doctor" and "Engines of War" fell short of.

I made this as canonically correct as possible, pulling each Doctor and his corresponding companion from episodes to make this possible, but if you catch me in an error... I claim AU! Ha ha. It is for all intents and purposes a Capaldi episode, within his first season, long before Face the Raven. This is a Doctor Who fanfic for superfans only, as the entire first section only describes each Doctor by his attire, so you have to guess which is which by their apparel and companions. If you aren't familiar with each and every Doctor, this story will get very confusing. That being said, I hope you enjoy!

Fighting Against Fire [One] (The Protector Chronicles) by Turtlii

The Protector never wanted anything but a life of peace and quiet, only to watch the Universe from afar, learning about different places and cultures. She didn't want to be seen as 'high and mighty' or 'above all else' she just wanted to watch time tick by. When the Protector picked her Title she promised herself that she would help those who couldn't help themselves and then she failed that promise when she couldn't stop the Daleks in the Time War. Now the Time Lords had gotten to him, the Doctor was placed inside the TARDIS and sent to begin the next part of his sentence - the change of appearance. The entire life of the Doctor is placed in jeopardy as are his old friends; Jamie, Zoe, Victoria, Ben, and Polly are all doomed... A parallel alternate race of War Lords, with the members of their race doubles in every detail, begin to bring about the destruction of the Time Lords. Then, nobody will be able to prevent them from building armies across the universe to wage war with each other. The Second Doctor must now use his manipulative and child-like characteristics one last time in order to save the universe. Their differences remain unsettled, and the pair would hardly willingly work with each other, but the Doctor and Davros believe in preventing the Time War from destroying all forms of life in the universe - Time Lord and Dalek alike. We see Davros begin to die. His bodily organs and life support systems give in to the struggles of his crippled, decayed physical state. The fates of the Doctor and Davros are planned. Davros is prepared to advance to the survival of his people at any cost. Amidst the ever growing storm, the Renegade once known as the Doctor must assemble an army of his own to defeat all the other factions and restore peace. Left alone the half Gallifreyan tried living on her own, and she did for some time, until Torchwood found her. That's when project T.O.M. began and The Outcast became known as subject 20-15-13. After that everything went worse, the experiments, torture, insults, and then the Doomsday Invasion. That's where Outcast's story picked up again for the better, surprisingly, and with her unlikely friend they manage to escape with the chaos of Cybermen and Daleks around them. Will it grow worse for The Outcast once more when Torchwood Three finds her or will her distrust of Torchwood be changed? Her friend loved her new home, but Outcast wasn't one to trust others easily. In fact she just wants to leave the past in the past to find a better future away from those she hates, but of course when aliens attack it won't be easy to just leave Shylah behind to face the attack with the Torchwood members. With that burdening her escape plans she decides to end the fight quickly... That is easier thought than done though...
